| It's November and Fall is in the air. This will be an abbreviated letter because most state legislatures are not in session. This week's election saw Virginia and New Jersey elect new governors, both Democrats, and New York City elected a young Democratic Socialist. Times are interesting, indeed!
States have begun posted pre-filed bills and i hope to have a collection to share over the next few weeks.
Meanwhile, let's hope the federal government opens, the air traffic controllers get to full strength, and some approaching normal will return.

Headlines
States Focus on Drug Pricing in 2025 States have little authority to compel manufacturers to lower prices. They do, however, govern how insurance companies behave within their states and in 2025 more than 30 states have enacted 70 laws that propose to leverage their authority to reduce direct costs to consumers and pharmacies. More
Democrats Dominate in State Elections Democratic candidates for governor in Virginia and New Jersey won their races against Republicans with comfortable margins. The New York City mayor's race confirmed the voter's preference for Democratic candidate Zohran Mamdani. To top it all off, Californians approved a ballot initiative to redistrict Congressional boundaries to elect more Democrats to Congress. The Dems are jubilant.
All States Have Submitted Rural Health Applications Every state has submitted an application for money available for the Rural Health Transformation project, as authorized in this year's reconciliation bill. The deadline for plan submission was November 5 and grants will be announced at the end of the year. KFF Health News

Generic Drug Trade Group Sues Connecticut over Price Controls The Association for Accessible Medicines has filed a lawsuit in federal court against Connecticut over implementation of a budget item that allows the state to regulate the prices of generic (but not patented) prescription drugs. More
Mark Cuban's Cost Plus Drugs Partners with TrumpRx Cost Plus Drugs announced that it would make its Application Programming Interface (API) available to the federal website that allows individuals to access drug price information on drugs being offered directly to consumers by manufacturers. More
Ohio Redistricting Process Gives GOP More Seats The Ohio House Congressional delegation, currently 10-5 Republican/Democrat split could go to 12/3 following the next election, based on the party registration in the new districts. More |
